Is AI calorie counting accurate? Nomi FAQ
AI can estimate calories and macros quickly, but the answer is never perfect. Nomi is designed around review and correction, so you decide what enters your food log.
How accurate is AI calorie counting?
AI calorie estimates are useful starting points, not exact measurements. Portion size, hidden oils, mixed dishes and photo quality can change the result. Nomi lets you review every food and correct it before logging.
Is Nomi free?
Nomi is free to download. New accounts receive three AI meal scans. Barcode scanning, manual logging, water, weight and progress tracking remain free. Optional Nomi Pro unlocks AI scans subject to fair use.
What happens to my meal photos?
Original photos remain on your device. A resized copy is sent securely for analysis and is not stored on Nomi’s servers. See the Privacy Policy for providers, processing and retention details.
Does Nomi work offline?
Food, water and weight logging work offline and sync later. AI meal scans require an internet connection, but you can save a photo and analyze it when you are connected.
Can I correct an AI result?
Yes. Change an item or serving directly, or describe the correction in plain words, such as “only 2 eggs” or “cooked in butter.”
Can Nomi scan barcodes?
Yes. Barcode scanning and open-food-database search are included alongside quick add, recents, favorites and custom foods.
Can I export or delete my data?
Yes. Export your information or delete your account from Settings. Deleting an account does not automatically cancel an App Store subscription.
Is Nomi medical advice?
No. Nomi provides nutrition estimates for everyday tracking. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat or prevent a condition.
