1. Who we are
Nomi is developed by Ankit Kandel in Nepal, who is responsible for personal information processed through the App. Contact contact@ankitkandel.com.np with privacy questions or requests.
2. Information you provide
Sign in with Apple may provide an account identifier and, if you allow it, your name and email or private relay address. Nomi processes profile and goal information you enter, including age, sex, height, weight, activity level, target, eating style and units, plus food, water and weight logs, saved foods and nutrition goals.
3. Meal photos and AI
Original photos remain on your device. For a scan, a resized copy is sent over an encrypted connection through our server to Google Gemini, with relevant preferences and a country code that helps recognize local food. We do not store meal photos on our servers or use photos or logs to train AI. A nutrition result may be cached for seven days under a one-way fingerprint. Correction text and the current estimate are processed similarly.
4. Usage and purchases
For AI requests, we record time, request type, success and token usage, not the photo, to manage free scans, scan packs, fair use and abuse prevention. We store purchase entitlement and timing so subscriptions or scan packs can be delivered and restored. Apple handles payments. We may retain the policy or terms version and time associated with consent or a purchase.
5. Firebase Analytics
Nomi uses Google Firebase Analytics to understand feature usage, diagnose problems and improve the App. Firebase may process app events, app version, device and operating-system information, approximate region, language, installation identifiers and performance information. We do not send meal photos, food logs, weight entries, names or email addresses as analytics events, and we do not use analytics to show ads or track you across other companies’ apps and websites. TODO(VERIFY): owner and legal counsel should confirm the final Firebase event configuration and retention period.
6. How information is used
We use information to create your nutrition plan; provide estimates and logs; sync devices; show progress; deliver purchases; manage limits; secure and troubleshoot Nomi; understand aggregate usage; improve features; comply with law; and respond to support. For EU and UK users, legal bases may include contract, explicit consent for health-related information, legitimate interests in security and improvement, and legal obligations.
7. Providers and international processing
Providers include Supabase for accounts, storage, sync and server functions; Google Gemini for meal analysis; Google Firebase for analytics; RevenueCat for subscriptions and scan packs; Apple for sign-in and payments; and Open Food Facts for barcode and food search. Each receives only information needed for its service. Providers may process information outside your country, including in the United States, with legally required safeguards.
8. Sharing and advertising
We do not sell or rent personal information, use it for advertising, or share it for targeted or cross-context behavioral advertising. We may disclose information when required by law or needed to protect users, rights, safety and the service.
9. Retention
Account data, goals, logs, scan records and agreement records remain while your account exists and are deleted with the account, subject to legal requirements and encrypted backups retained for up to 30 days. Meal photos are not stored on our servers. Cached AI results are deleted after seven days. Firebase, Apple and RevenueCat retain applicable data under their settings and policies.
10. Your choices and rights
You can edit profile and logs, control reminders, export information and delete your account in Settings. Deleting an account does not cancel an App Store subscription. Depending on location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object, withdraw consent, receive a portable copy, appeal or complain to a regulator. We generally respond within 30 days and may verify a request using the Apple Account linked to Nomi.
11. Security, children and health data
Information is encrypted in transit, sign-in tokens use the iOS Keychain, and Sign in with Apple means Nomi does not handle your password. No system is perfectly secure. Nomi is for people 13 and older. Users under 18 receive maintenance-only plans without weight-loss targets. Food, body and health-related entries are treated as sensitive and used to operate and improve Nomi, not to provide medical advice.
12. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as Nomi changes and will provide notice of significant changes in the App. Contact contact@ankitkandel.com.np. TODO(VERIFY): this draft must be reviewed by the owner and qualified legal counsel before being treated as final legal advice.
