How it is calculated
For women: BMR = 10 × kg + 6.25 × cm − 5 × age − 161. For men, the final constant is +5. TDEE = BMR × activity factor.
Worked example
Example: a 30-year-old woman at 70 kg and 170 cm has an estimated BMR of 1,452 kcal. At a light-activity factor of 1.375, estimated maintenance is about 1,997 kcal/day.
